Digi International’s PortServer serial device servers offer a reliable, simple, and cost effective solution for connecting multiple serial devices over industry standard Ethernet. It combines the inherent benefits of data networking with proven asynchronous connectivity to deliver powerful yet simple Ethernet connections for all customers' serial devices. There is a variety of port options from 1 to 4 that can handle serial interfaces of RS-232/422/485.
Digi’s patented RealPort®, with encryption and user authentication (see datasheet for compatibility specifications), makes it possible to establish a connection between the host and networked serial device by creating a local COM or TTY port on the host computer, allowing software applications to work with networked device servers instead of requiring a host adapter. PortServer TS HCC MEI meets NEMA TS2 requirements for traffic control equipment, and PortServer TS M MEI offers Ethernet and RS-232/422/485 serial connections with the addition of an internal modem. PortServers are ideal for retail, commercial, and building control applications.
