THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - February 16, 2006
Cirronet, an innovator in the development of wireless products, and Digi-Key Corporation, a U.S. based electronic component distributor, today announced that the companies have signed a worldwide distribution agreement that includes Cirronet's proprietary and ZigBee-based modules and developer's kits.
Since 1987, Cirronet has focused on the design and manufacture of professional-grade OEM and industrial wireless data products, becoming highly regarded for its proprietary frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology. Cirronet is also at the forefront of development for the new ZigBee standard, and provides high- and low-power OEM modules and developer's kits that enable the creation of ZigBee products without requiring RF design expertise. As a result of this agreement, Digi-Key will distribute Cirronet's FHSS modules and developer's kits, and will be the preferred source of Cirronet's ZigBee developer's kits and smaller quantities of ZigBee modules.
One of the fastest growing distributors of electronic components in the world, Digi-Key Corporation focuses on service and performance as it serves its global customer base from its single location in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Cirronet's products will be featured in Digi-Key's printed and online catalogs and are available for purchase directly from Digi-Key. The new franchise agreement with Cirronet will enable Digi-Key to fulfill the design as well as the production needs of its customers worldwide.
"ZigBee has tremendous appeal in a wide range of applications, from home and building automation to industrial monitoring and control," said Robert Gemmell, chairman and CEO of Cirronet. "As a long-time Digi-Key customer, we fully appreciate the value Digi-Key brings to this relationship, especially in its ability to deliver products to a global engineering customer base that can drive ZigBee adoption across multiple markets."
"We are pleased to be able to represent Cirronet and add this innovative company to our line card," commented Mark Larson, Digi-Key president and COO. "We anticipate that Cirronet's expansive line of versatile ZigBee solutions will be of substantial interest and appeal to the many customers from around the globe that we serve on a daily basis."
Headquartered in metro Atlanta, Georgia, Cirronet has 18 years of success in developing innovative wireless products for industrial, scientific and military use, and today offers the industry's most complete selection of OEM modules and ready-to-use devices.
