APDS-9306-065 Digital Ambient Light Photosensor with I²C Output

Broadcom's ambient light sensor utilizes coating technology to emulate human eye spectral response

Image of Broadcom's APDS-9306-065 Digital Ambient Light Photo Sensor Broadcom's APDS-9306-065 is a low-voltage digital ambient light sensor that converts light intensity to digital signal output with I²C interface. It consists of a photodiode, ADC, oscillator, and power-on reset to ensure consistent start-up. The APDS-9306-065 approximates the response of the human eye and provides direct readout where the output count is proportional to ambient light level.

Features
  • Miniature package size: 2.00 mm x 2.00 mm x 0.65 mm (L x W x H)
  • Utilizes coating technology to emulate human eye spectral response
  • High sensitivity in low lux conditions - ideally suited for operation behind dark glass
  • Low lux performance at 0.01 lux
  • Up to 20-bit resolution
  • Wide power supply range: 1.7 V to 3.6 V
  • I²C interface compatible with dedicated interrupt pin
  • Low power consumption: 85 µA typical in active mode
