This slide compares controllers, converters, and power modules. A controller is a device that does not integrate FETs or the inductor, a converter integrates the high-side and low-side FETs, and a power module integrates the switching FETs and the inductor (and in some cases the input and output capacitors as well). This chart uses a green-yellow-red scale to show the benefits of each product offering. For example, solution cost increases as the level of integration increases.
