Shown here is a short comparison of the ADG9xx CMOS switches to traditional GaAs switches. As indicated here, the GaAs switches need DC-blocking capacitors in series with the RF ports, effectively floating the die relative to DC ground, so that the switches can be controlled with positive control voltages. The ADG9xx family do not have this requirement, eliminating concerns of reduced bandwidth, the impact of the capacitors on overall system performance, and the extra space and cost of GaAs solutions.
