The simplest hubs available on the market are not without their shortcomings as many do not have isolation – the upstream circuitry ground connects through to the downstream circuitry ground. The power available from the downstream ports may be limited, typically only 100mA each. This can limit a user application which requires greater power and poses potential operational issues.
