In summary, the MGDT planar gate drive transformer directly drives high side MOSFETs/IGBTs on buses up to 1200 V. It provides a high isolation level of 3750 VAC from drive to gate. It is the lowest profile gate drive transformer package at less than 12 mm. The planar winding provides high performance with minimal parasitic losses. It is one of the smallest packages to meet 8 mm safety creepage and clearance distance. When benchmarked against a traditional toroidal wound design, it is almost 4 times smaller. The transformer can be used in a variety of switch mode power applications for industrial, military, aerospace, and medical applications.
