This slide looks at the different Video CODECs supported by the Microchip SAM9M10. The first one is the MPEG-2 Part 2, generally called MPEG-2. Part 2 is in fact the video section of the well known MPEG-2 standard. MPEG-1 video is also part of the MPEG-2 video standard, so is consequently supported. Typical applications of this CODEC are DVDs as well as broadcast television systems. The second video CODEC supported is the MPEG-4 Part 2 generally called MPEG-4 SP or ASP. Part 2 is in fact one video section of the MPEG-4 standard. One application is the DivX format whose CODEC is based on the MPEG-4 Part 2 one. Another supported CODEC is called H.263 which is a CODEC designed as a low bitrate compressed format for videoconferencing.
